Flooring Pack Calculator

Estimate flooring packs for laminate, hybrid, vinyl plank, or similar products from room area and pack coverage. Choose or enter an allowance, then see the whole-pack result.

Flooring Inputs

Pack and price fields
If waste is left blank, the calculator uses a pattern-based default: straight 10%, diagonal 15%, herringbone 20%.
Flooring is sold in packs, not loose square metres. The calculator converts room area into area with waste, then rounds up to whole packs and optionally subtracts unopened packs already owned.

Pack coverage is the purchase decision

A floor is measured as area, but flooring is normally bought as whole packs. This calculator applies the layout allowance to room area, divides by the coverage printed on the pack, and rounds the result to whole packs before accounting for unopened packs already on hand.

Flooring calculation

room area × (1 + waste allowance) ÷ pack coverage

Blank allowance values use a RoxyCalc planning default for the selected pattern. It is not an installation rule; replace it when the product or layout requires a different allowance.

Compare the allowance, then make the call

For a 20 m² room, a 10% allowance plans for 22 m², 15% plans for 23 m², and 20% plans for 24 m². The pack count may jump at a threshold, so test the actual pack coverage rather than rounding area by eye.

Keep matching spares deliberately

Some finishes are difficult to match later. An unopened spare pack can be useful, but it should be a deliberate purchase decision rather than a hidden assumption in the calculation.
