Paver Calculator
Pavers, base, bedding, and rough cost.
Paver / Patio Materials Calculator
Estimate pavers, optional paver boxes, base material, and bedding sand from patio size, paver size, pattern, and waste allowance. The page covers the main shopping maths for a simple patio or path and keeps the assumptions visible.

Paver patio planning guide
Paver projects need surface pavers plus base, bedding sand, edge restraint, cuts, and waste. A patio that looks simple on plan can require more material once falls, curves, borders, and cuts are included.
Use this calculator for patios, paths, and small paved areas where you know the area and paver size or box coverage. Keep the structural base estimate separate from the visible paving area so each layer can be checked properly.
Project checks before purchase
- Add waste for edge cuts, curves, borders, and diagonal patterns.
- Confirm compacted base depth rather than loose tipped depth.
- Check drainage fall away from buildings and paved thresholds.
- Buy spare pavers for future repair, especially for color-batched products.
This is a material planning guide only. Soil preparation, compaction, drainage, and edge restraint details should be confirmed for the site conditions.
Worked example
A 5 m by 4 m patio covers 20 m². With 10% cutting allowance, the paver area is 22 m². If each paver is 200 mm by 100 mm, its face area is 0.02 m², so the estimate is 1,100 pavers before supplier packaging. A 150 mm compacted base over the same footprint would be about 3 m³ before its own material and compaction allowance.
Paver calculator FAQ
Why can the result show either pavers or boxes?
If you enter a box purchase mode, the main answer becomes boxes to buy. Without a box mode, the main answer stays as pavers required with waste.
Does pattern change waste?
Yes. The page uses consistent pattern defaults when you leave the waste field blank, and you can enter your own allowance when the project needs one.
