Drywall / Plasterboard / Gyprock Calculator
Estimate how many wall sheets to buy from wall size, sheet size, wall count, waste allowance, and simple layout orientation. Optional opening deductions and screw-pack fields add extra guidance without blocking the core sheet answer.

Wall sheets: area method versus layout method
This calculator supports walls only. It checks the net wall area after opening deductions and also checks a simple sheet layout based on the selected orientation. The larger count is used before allowance because a real wall must be covered by whole sheets, not just equivalent area.
Drywall calculation
area count = net wall area ÷ sheet arealayout count = rows × sheets per row; use the higher count, then add wasteOrientation is a planning choice
Vertical and horizontal sheets place the long dimension differently. Try both where the product system permits it, then choose with joint position, handling, and product instructions in mind. The page does not estimate ceilings, tape, compound, or a staggered-joint layout.
Why the higher result can be right
A wall may have 15.2 sheet-areas but need 18 whole sheets by rows and cuts. The difference is not extra “padding”; it is an explanation of why surface area is not always a purchasable layout.
